Description: RAREC. A. Burr CoRochester NYExtra Plate Tea Coffee Pot SetThis is a stunning early set of silverplate. The C. A. Burr Company was founded by silversmiths Cornelius A Burr and John T Fox in Rochester New York. The company was only in business from 1857 to 1863 so these pieces can be dated quite accurately.Occasionally silver pieces by C A Burr become available, however these are the only pieces of silverplate by this company I have ever been able to find! In all of the research I have done not one mention of this company ever producing plate has ever surfaced. The only photo of a piece of silverplate by this maker anywhere online is this one. These two pieces have survived in really excellent condition for their age. They have very minimal wear to the plate. The tall pot measures 12 inches tall, there is one noticeable ding under the spout and a few scattered light dings and slight depressions, most of them are fairly hard to notice. The smaller pot measures 10 1/2 inches and doesn't have any major flaws that i can see.Really fantastic pieces of Civil War era silverplate. If you have any questions please contact me.
