Description: These giant scarlet runner beans are truly amazing. The beans can grow to over 20 inches long in some cases. The plants can grow massive with mounds of beautiful foliage and small red flowers that attract humming birds! The plants do best climbing up a trellis. The pictures show my 7 foot cylindrical trellis completely covered with vines and quickly became the show piece of my yard and garden! These seeds are very rare and I can only send 5 seeds per order. An early frost really hurt my production of these seeds last year. The seed size will very somewhat since the really big beans tend to have bigger seeds. I'll try to make sure each order gets a couple of the bigger sized seeds but genetically they should all be very similar if not identical. The beans are edible just like any other runner bean would be and should be picked when young, before the large seeds start to develop. These can also just be grown as a beautiful decorative plant that can attract humming birds. Germination tip: no need to pre soak these seeds as they can be prone to rot if they soak in too much water. Just start them in moist potting mix indoors if you want or just derect start them outdoors in your garden. I test sprouted 5 seeds and they all sprouted but I have had some rot out before sprouting in the past and I think it was because I pre soaked them overnight. I can't guarantee that all 5 or your seeds will sprout but you should get at least 3 or 4 plants and that's enough to grow mountains of foliage!!!!!
