Description: If you like interesting and rare gems you might be interested in this Golden Labradorite. Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar that forms with internal twinning that produces many thin layers and light interferes with these layers to produce a mysterious light that sweeps across the the stone in an amazing way. Best known are Labradorites that flash many colors, but this rare form of Labradorite looks grayish to the naked eye with a sweeping gold light. On occasion, depending how light hits it, the glow becomes a greenish/blue/yellow. Most Labradorite that people are familiar with is opaque, but this one is semi-transparent. When you view it under magnification, you will see the stone is actually filled with blackish magnetite inclusions that give the gray appearance. I noticed that when strong light hits the stone in a certain way there is also some schiller that adds a bit of colored and clear glitter, but mostly you can see it in the back of the stone. Schiller is usually seen in Sunstones which are also a member of the Feldspar family.Collectors believe that Labradorite awakens the inner spirit, intuition and one's psychic abilities. while I can't promise that is true, or me, the rolling light across the top of the stone is magical. This cabochon measures 13.9mm X 10mm (almost 14X10 and will fit a 14X10 setting). It weighs about 4.50cts. I have decided to sell some gemstones that at one time I had the intention to use, but never got around to it. The gem in the photos is magnified to show details so keep in mind the gem is much smaller than the photos. That said, please check out the measurements. The colors might look different on different monitors, so double check my description for color. I always say the weight is "about" a certain amount of carats because I realize that not all weight scales weigh in exactly the same and can be off by a tiny fraction up or down, but all in all the weight calculations are fairly accurate. Please note I am not a gem dealer by trade. I have collected stones all my life and studied colored stones at the GIA. I'm just selling several pieces I that never had the opportunity to use, and I'd like to see them go to someone who will enjoy and use them. I do not accept returns, as my goal is to thin out my collections now that I have retired, so please be sure you really love this gemstone before you buy it. Feel free to email me with any questions as I love to chat about gems. All of my listings ship free of charge in the USA. I do not sell overseas at this time. Note that now eBay is required to collect taxes, so most likely taxes will be added to this purchase. Thank you for checking out my listing and happy eBay shopping!
