Description: BIG flashy ROUGH OPAL CHUNK of American sand Opal rough from Louisiana aka geyser opal... w quite a bit of color flash showing...Louisiana opal is from water deposits. It's cool and interesting you should google it. Found near stream banks, pipe run-off or geysers. Tiny flashy opals are embedded in host sandy type rock sometimes w quartz. This piece is BIG over 133 carats dry! 27 plus grams of fine bright opal in host. This piece is frothy as shown, and I took pictures in water to show purple flashes of color, then sprayed wet to show the others. The colors roll, almost neon. You never know what's going on with Louisiana opal til you have cut polished etc. It is a softer base than CP LR etc and using sand paper to pull color can work well but use fine grit, keep it wet and stop often to see what is emerging. BTW, Louisiana opals are famous for UV under black light. Not all of them but a lot do react! This one already shows waves of sparking color in greenish blue and purple, a few reddish flashes and yellow along top and sides, a bit shows in center as well. See the video! The camera video kind of washed it out a little but the color IS showing. See all pictures too please. Youtube of opal :https://youtube.com/shorts/dp0KvHGcGTI- Copy into your browser Idk what is under the top layers. These are rare to find. To me these are ethereal, like pipe opal but not as dense. Pictured wet when you see color. This opal type can make fascinating jewelry, and awesome specimens. Louisiana opal are shy and soft, they flirt color at you but if you push too fast you can miss it. Work with these stones with patience and see what you make. This is a dark caramel to chocolate base opal as shown. When dry it looks tan. Colors as shown in pictures when wet. Measurements are in photos as well. These are hard to find! Cutter gamble specimen rough. Unaltered. Over 2 inches long and its a thick chunky piece, this would make an outstanding Free-form opal pendant bracelet ring suite in my opinion. Awesome raw edging and like a thick pie slice in shape. Check my other items for other opals, minerals, gold and more :) . The piece on the scale is what is on offer, to the side opals are not. Total weight approx per scale is shown in photos but I go a little conservative in title. I took pictures mostly wet....some Dry, flash on and flash off. Some are of Back as well as front. There is also a YouTube video These are really hard to get good pictures of, so I take a lot of photos for you. Scroll through to see detail. I included pics of this with a measure tape to show relative size. It's perfect for jewelry, but NOT polished so don't expect a ready to go opal, a big size for statement piecees. Please review all photos as they are part of the description. I took photos from all angles to show condition and tried to get colors to show but they do not always show well. All sales final, these are estate opals as found. NOTE. I'm tired of newbies people buying opals then seeing them dry and thinking idkwhat. If you don't understand these are not cut and polished yet, and rough is always a gamble, don't buy. Message and ask! I'll answer honestly. Please. No hate, just being upfront with you. Most rough is duller dry. There can be mineral skins which dulls color (until polished or wet), Host rock, mud or clay. Flash on cameras n pics gives us the ability to see the colors within. You still have to clean or cut etc to reveal what is inside. There is never ever a guarantee an opal will cut well or not have a surprise in it like sandy center or fractures FYI. If this was a world class opal insanely n1 n2 full of fire guaranteed cutter grade, and i knew that, I would say so. These are cutter or specimen gamble, and truly interesting. I use flash in pictures, no black light unless UV. For louisiana opals i will get a black light soon to show uv if present, otherwise not. Most buyers know what they are looking at, buy them and love working with them. Appreciate them for what they are. Not one of the stones on offer by me on ebay are colorless unless they show so in pictures. I say so if so and pictures are unaltered. I am selling off a large estate of minerals, silver, gold, coins, textiles, Lacework, silk, fine jewelry and pottery etc. Later today and over the coming weeks will be some VERY old copper pots, pans, dough bowls, NOT repro's. opals, gold bangles and more. Please review all photos as they are part of the description. All sales final. Gold and coins and higher end one of a kind ship with insurance for you. Note : IMPORTANT Picture clarity and color may be different for each user, I am not responsible for clarity or color, all photos blurry etc. These things often are impacted by inidividual screens, intrnet connection etc. If they are blurry - all of them - i suggest using your computer vs phone, phone vs computer or a better internet connection. Also, colors can differ from monitor or phone etc. If you want an extra picture message me and I will do my best to get another to you. I take at a minimum 6-20 pictures to show detail. Especially tiny items, or raw gold, opals and crystals can be difficult to show precise detail. I use a Samsung Flip4 for pictures....Thank you and enjoy
