This model is difficult-to-find.Mortens Studio was established by Oscar Morten, an immigrant from Sweden to the United States. Morten opened a Chicago art studio in 1931 and worked continuously to make his beautifully detailed dogs and other animal figurines until 1963.Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these realistic pieces are prone to crazing and flaking. It is a challenge, today, to find these animals in top condition. This dog is in very good condition with only a flake from his right front toe. There is age crazing throughout. He feels sturdy.This figurine measures almost 5 inches tall and 6 1/4 inches long.He weighs about over 1 pound.
