Description: Rare Pennsylvania Keystone Miniature License Plate 1943 as shown in the first attached high resolution photograph. This miniature license plate was also used for a registration tag for the previous 1942 Pennsylvania license plate. This tag would be placed on the top right corner of the existing 1942 plate. During the War II years, the state of Pennsylvania adopted the use of miniature license plates to conserve on severely needed metal for the War effort. The miniature license plate has the state Keystone symbol for Pennsylvania in the color black. The red plate color was for the 28th Infantry Division ("Keystone") whose unit color was red. The plate dimensions are: Width: 2-1/8 inches wide as shown in the first attached photograph. Height: 1-7/8 inches tall as shown in the first attached photograph. Thickness: 1/32 of an inch as shown in the second attached high resolution photograph. This miniature license plate which reads from top to bottom “43 - 3-31-44 - 142169“ was registered to my Grandfather’s car. After its expiration, my Father added a magnet on the back as shown in the third attached high resolution photograph to display on his workshop. These miniature plates are quite rare, especially in this condition.Note: Photographs are an important part of my description; please review all photographs before purchasing.
