Description: This listing is for an INCREDIBLY RARE “index” type card signed and dated by former Dallas Police Lieutenant Rio Sam Pierce, now deceased. Rio Sam Pierce (July 26, 1923 - December 23, 2015) On November 22, 1963 President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in downtown Dallas, Texas as his motorcade passed by the Texas School Book Depository building. He was shot from a 6th floor window by Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the building. Two days later, on November 24, 1963, as Lee Harvey Oswald was being transferred to the Dallas County Jail, he was shot and killed by Jack Ruby, the owner of the Carousel Club, in the basement of the Dallas Police Headquarters. Lt. Sam Pierce, who was in charge of basement security that day, was the Dallas Police Lieutenant who was mentioned by Jack Ruby during his deathbed interview as being the Dallas Police officer he passed in his patrol car as he entered the ramp and, only seconds later, killed Oswald. It is believed that Pierce drove his patrol car up the Main Street ramp at the same time that Ruby entered the building. PIERCE'S AUTOGRAPH IS EXTREMELY RARE! I HAVE ATTACHED TO THE LISTING, FOR REFERENCE ONLY, AN IMAGE OF PIERCE TAKEN AROUND THE TIME OF THE ASSASSINATION AS WELL AS AN IMAGE OF JACK RUBY'S DEATHBED INTERVIEW IN WHICH HE MENTIONS PASSING BY PIERCE AS HE ENTERED THE BASEMENT. I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED, FOR REFERENCE ONLY, AN IMAGE FROM A SIXTH FLOOR MUSEUM BROCHURE WHEN PIERCE GAVE A PUBLIC ORAL HISTORY SEVERAL YEARS AGO. Professional and secure USPS shipping is FREE!
