Description: The listing is for a unique silver plate double sided butter dish. The base is marked Wilcox Silver Company, Quadruple Plate and also Meriden. I assume Meriden manufactured the butter dish and Wilcox plated it, which is not uncommon as many companies purchased their products from Meriden. The cover of the butter dish can be lifted and hung onto the brace across the top of the handle to access the butter or the butter can be reached by just lifting the lid on one side. Each side of the handle has a place to hang a butter knife. The body of the butter dish is in a floral acid finish with a design of copper lizards, ferns, frogs etc which create a stunning contrast. The cover and insert for holding the butter can be lifted out for ease of cleaning. Condition: There are no monograms or dents and no visible repairs. The cover lifts to hang onto the support with no problem. There is ware to the silver plate as shown in the pictures. There is a slight lean to the handle. Size: The butter dish stands 12.5 inches tall to the top of the handle and measures 6.25 inches wide. Shipping: We gladly combine shipping whenever possible.
