Description: This auction is for a scarce vintage Chelsea House urn-formed hand painted portrait lamp base with parrots. This fine piece was purchased from a prominent Washington D.C estate. This is very nice, high quality hand painted porcelain vintage Chelsea House urn formed lamp base. After it was purchased, I disassembled the lamp hardware and have used it as a decorative urn. It has a very stately-traditional baluster form, with a pair of lovely fan and floral decorated gilded handles, (see pics). This is an unusual example, as it has a simulated mercury ground with gold accents, boasting a pair of colorful hand painted parrot portraits. These whimsical parrots are in a natural setting, resting on a branch with lush flowers and foliage. Quite unusual indeed! It measures 11 1/8" tall with a rim diameter of 4" and a base dimension of 3 1/4" x 3 1/4". It is signed Chelsea House on the bottom. It is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. There are some losses to the gilding from use, not abuse. Currently it is a bit dirty but will be cleaned before shipping. I have never seen a Chelsea House piece like this, and I have seen many, so get this scarcity before it gets away! To be a wonderful addition to your Chelsea House/Parrot collection/fine decor.
