Description: SIGNED RAY BRADBURY THE ANTHEM SPRINTERS and other antics Four 'Irish' plays by Bradbury; 1st Edition HARDCOVER, 1963 DIAL PRESS PLUS - A SMALL, EARLY THEATRE FLYER ADVERTISING THE 'WORLD PREMIERE'of the stage production of 'THE ANTHEM SPRINTERS'in Los Angeles in 1968! Which starred Monte Markham and Garry Walberg. A lovely, Near Fine copy of both the book and jacket, signed by Ray Bradbury on the title page in purple ink. The outer covers of the cloth book are rubbed at the bottom and top of spine ends - a bit more so along the bottom edge. The corners remain sharp, with only the faintest hint of rubbing to tips. There are a few spots at top of page edges (photo 7) near spine; these are not stains, just light impressions to upper pages. There is a tiny, very faint tan spot to the bottom of fore-edge (photo 6). The book is internally clean, the inside front and rear endpapers remain bright and the pages supple. The dust jacket is Near Fine and shows only the mildest of wear to its mostly-white surface. The jacket is price-clipped and there is the ubiquitous fading to the spine panel, affecting the author's name and a small part of the brown band of color at the lower spine. A touch of rubbing to the bottom front and rear corner tips of jacket. Otherwise, this is quite a nice example of this early dust jacket. The included theatre flyer measures approximately 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 and has some handling wear and a corner crease to top left hand corner. A unique piece of ephemera from the February, 1968 theatrical production. A Note regarding date of the production; there is not a date present on the flyer. The information on the productions date was garnered from 'The Ray Bradbury Companion' by William F. Nolan: "The Anthem Sprinters (was)staged at the Beverly Hills Playhouse in October 1967, and at the Cornet Theatre in late February 1968"Which leads one to believe that the production at the Beverly Hills Playhouse was, perhaps, 'preview' performances, as the flyer from the L.A. production clearly notes the performance as "The World Premiere". All hardcover books with jackets include a mylar protector. It is removed only to be photographed.
