Description: Very rare program for the special Trade and Press Premiere showing of the movie Rebecca at Grauman's Chinese Theatre on March 20, 1940. This program was for the special Trade and Press Premiere showing of the movie held at Grauman's Chinese Theatre one day before the World Premiere at Radio City in New York on March 21, 1940. Rebecca is a 1940 American romantic psychological thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. It was Hitchcock's first American project, and his first film under contract with producer David O. Selznick. The screenplay by Robert E. Sherwood and Joan Harrison, and adaptation by Phillip MacDonald and Michael Hogan, were based on the 1938 novel of the same name by Daphne du Maurier. The film stars Laurence OIivier as the brooding, aristocratic widower Maxim de Winter and Joan Fontaine as the young, never-named woman who becomes his second wife, with Judith Anderson, George Sanders and Gladys Cooper in supporting roles. The program features a nice write up of Joan Fontaine as this would end up being a prelude into being her break-out film along with Alfred Hitchcock. Measures 8-1/2 x 11 inches and includes 10 interior pages. The program is in very good condition. *This program was previously purchased through Heritage Auctions in 2023.
