Who wants this? Bad idea, but they have to do it. This extra stuff makes everything more complicated, expensive, harder to repair, and more chance it will break. AND after all, you really just need a refrigerator to have very simple engineering and for it to get cold without repairs. Like most stuff built now, Sub-Zero has deviated from their previous path of just building a reliable unit. So the previous models are simpler, better, easy to fix, not to mention they use the standard R134a Freon gas which has been around for 35yrs now. The new Sub-Zero models use a less tested newer refrigerant gas which must meet Govt regulations. SECONDLY, we note a lot of EBay sellers list their Sub-Zero units without stating whether the unit has had its fresh food evaporator replaced. This is a must and will cost you about $3,000 to $5,000 to have done. This must be replaced with a new factory OEM evaporator part or the unit will leak out the Freon gas and stop getting cold. So you can assume that many of the Sub-Zero units being sold on Ebay have not had the fresh food evaporator replaced since it is expensive and that is why they are being sold on Ebay. We have have been selling and shipping these units on Ebay for over 23yrs and we will not sell any of these models unless we update this service with a factory OEM part. Again, all of these models we sell have been updated with this new SZ evaporator by our techs. One other thing when buying these on EBay. Unless the stainless doors are described as new or flawless, assume they will have some amount of damage, dings, scratches, or scuffs that may not be disclosed. We only sell perfect stainless doors, unless stated otherwise. This is a reconditioned unit in which the fresh food evaporator, gaskets, stainless, top grill, & updated LED lighting. All replacement parts used for our refurbished SZ unit are 100% factory OEM parts we purchase from Sub-Zero. No aftermarket Chinese parts used. This unit has no exterior flaws on any of the stainless steel grill or doors. No dents, dings, or scratches on any of the stainless. Handles or trim piece may have a tiny nick or two. The interior is appears complete and in very good condition. A couple of the bins may have some scuff marks on some of the glass shelves and clear plastic, but overall very good condition, but not 100% perfect.
