Description: Red Beefsteak Tomato 1 lot contains 50 Tomato seeds. We have truck farmed for 30+ years and use these vegetable varieties our-self on our Southern Illinois farm, Red beefsteak Tomatoes will be available at our farm stand this season as quickly as they ripen in the field. This year we have decided to offer the same seed varieties we grow for sale in our Ebay store, our seeds are acquired fresh annually in bulk from Horticultural Products and Services of Wisconsin and broken down into smaller, manageable lots. Red Beefsteaks are an open-pollinated, indeterminate type tomato (they will continue to grow and set blooms all season), They grow to 5-6' high, have thick, heavy vines and to better when staked, they reach maturity at around 80 days from transplant. Bright red fruits can weigh over a pound. Plants do best in full sun, tomatoes need 1-2" of water a week. We like to start our tomatoes in the greenhouse 6-8 weeks before setting them in the field. I find setting our tomatoes on 3 foot wide black synthetic mulch in very beneficial, in as much as it retains heat in the early spring, retains moisture when the weather gets dry, and retards weed growth all season.
