Description: Perfect for Ren fairs, LARP, SCA, & reenactment/historical events. For consideration is a handmade, brocade, Medieval woman's courtly surcoat/overdress. Surcoats dresses were the common worn in Medieval times over an underdress or chemise. They were everything from dressy to casual. Lengths varied & this one is full length. Made for the royal court, the high-quality brocade part is a somewhat heavy fabric with a gorgeous design. This design is centered & matched at the side seams. French seamed for fray prevention. The light-weight bodice is a dark beigy gray w/ a soft ivory drape falling from the shoulders in back. The neckline is adorned w/ a heavy scalloped lace & a satin tucked ribbon trims the waistline. The armholes are edged in a fancy ivory gimp. All of these trims are sewn on by hand for a quality look. Inside seams are French seamed for no fraying & longevity of wear. Brocade comes part way up the front bodice for support. Front hem is cut longer at center & a bit shorter where you need to walk. Bottom hem is machine rolled & turned again hand hemmed. Loose fit of surcoats allows for a range of sizing. This is a basic small to large in sizing. Please see the measurement for a good fit, most importantly the hip measurement.
