You may find yourself pleasurably lost within ‘Stardust Plume.’ From the black walnut (Arizona) exterior to shallow-interior, lies innumerous, inclusively hand cleaned & detailed; organically formed burrows, tracts and cavities. A series of mineralized hydrothermal sulfide veins was crafted from a sequential set of large burrow tracts. The general metallic to adamantine mineralogic lustres exhibited by most sulfide associated minerals rendered the ideal, desired contrastive element to compliment the black walnut colors, textures and fabric. The resultant inset sulfides and crafted mineralized veins required a particularly meticulous process spanning multiple days; more than a hundred specimens were individually considered for every mineral placed. The black walnuts central interior exhibits a magnificent and mesmerizing pattern of birdseye graining, where central of the pattern lies a large, single, organically formed cavity, that now hosts and highlights a mineral specimen centerpiece. The centerpiece is a trace-fossil burrow; with one end mineralized, that exhibits a gorgeous, spherical feature of pyrite replacement, encompassed by uniform crystals of uncommon euhedral-tetragonal pyrite crystals (well-formed pyramids). Selected to uniformly compliment the walnuts constructed sulfide veins, birdseye graining, coloring, and organic features, is: a preserved, partially-mineralized trace-fossil burrow, with one end now exhibiting a gorgeous, spherical feature of pyrite replacement, the exterior of which is uniformly comprised of proportionally rare, euhedral-tetragonal pyrite crystals. ‘Stardust Plume’s inclusive sulfide-associated mineralogic composition includes: sphalerite; chalcopyrite (Illinois); pyrite- tetragonal & cubic (Peru; Colorado); galena (Morocco; Colorado); fluorite; quartz; magnetite (Colorado). The majority of Colorado minerals are hand-collected from the Silverton caldera system (southwest Colorado). ‘Stardust Plume’s resin artwork base layer actually consists of a sequential series of stacked resin art layers, designed with increasing transparency from bottom-up. The artworks cosmic setting, designed with a particular variance of aesthetic depth, was inspired by ‘Pillars of Creation’ imagery from the James Webb Telescope. ‘Stardust Plume’ best displays as wall art, placed in a location that receives adequate light, preferably indirect sunlight or art display lighting.
