A wonderful Manual wind Ladies 9 carat yellow Gold Rolex watch, bearing hallmarks from Glasgow (Scotland) denoting the letter ‘c’ dating to 1925. This lovely time piece is from horology’s most famous name - Fitted to a rolled gold aftermarket horse shoe design bracelet which fits a ladies wrist circumference of up to 6.8 inches. The original engine tuned dial is signed ‘Rolex’ with Swiss Made at the very bottom. The case and the movement are both signed Rolex. Serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker, with no issues to report keeping accurate time and in good running order, ready to treasure and enjoy! Rolex marketed this watch to the Lady who placed perfection before price and "Created by perfectionists for perfectionists" and it's easy to see why when you look at this wonderful sophisticated example. Encased in a unique 9 carat gold case which has been preserved remarkably well with a few marks and light wear, the ‘pièce de résistance’ of this piece is of course the elegant case design which has been profusely made and incredibly characteristic defining the watch’s aesthetic. They also add to the watch's proportions quite significantly at a height of 23mm from end to end. At 23mm wide this watch is an average ladies size for the era in which it was made although still very small compared to modern variants - This Rolex is a very rare find, certainly in such good condition for almost 100 years old, and will simply never go out of style. It is the epitome of style and elegance, not to pass! The Original Dial: The dial is signed Rolex with a with ‘Swiss Made’ at the very bottom. This is an engine turned unique silvered dial with beautiful patina. Carries applied Arabic numerals with whip and spade handset which is in good condition for the age. Dial has patina and marks commensurate with age and wear - Please observe photographs carefully. Original Crystal: Perspex crystal in good condition for the age. Original Movement: Signed Rolex 15 Rubis Swiss Made - Rolex went to considerable trouble and expense to ensure its small Calibre series movements performed equally as well as its larger gents movements, and they succeeded! These are indeed high precision movements and the example here is running beautifully – The high grade 15 jewel hand-wound movement is in incredibly clean and sparkling condition and has been serviced by a Rolex specialist watchmaker with no issues to report, keeping accurate time. This particular movement is in beautiful condition and with similar care and regular servicing, say every 3 to 4 years, one can expect this watch to continue to run very happily for many more decades to come! Original Case: This unique case is a solid two-piece hinged case with a wonderful design feature. Solid 9 carat yellow Gold case measures 23mm wide excluding the crown, bearing hallmarks and sits 23mm high lug to lug. Has surface hairline scratches associated with precious metals commensurate with age and wear. Overall in good condition with no deep scratches or dents. Case Back Cover Outer: The press fit hinged case-back clicks into place with a firm and satisfying ‘pop’, indicating it is a nice tight fit and is of full thickness. Case Back Cover Inner: Inside the case-back is signed R.W.C Ltd (Rolex Watch Company Ltd) Rolex Worlds Records Gold - Medal Geneva Suisse with hallmarks for Glasgow (Scotland) 1925, serial numbered 26509. Additional Information; While the gents Rolex Precision was Rolex’s best selling watch throughout the 1950s and ’60s, many will be surprised to learn there was also a ladies Precision, sold at the same time. These made up around 10% of all the Rolex Precisions produced. Half of these were sold on leather straps and half on integral Rolex gold bracelets. These were expensive watches at the time, because it was much more difficult to produce the much smaller 19.7mm diameter Rolex Calibre series movements, to the same required levels of accuracy and reliability as the movements in the larger gents watches. It is not quite so well known that Rolex was actually founded in the UK in London 1905 and it was not until 1919 that the company transferred its base of operations to Geneva, Switzerland.
