Description: I purchased a bunch of these miniatures between 1984 -1987 from a colleague who worked with the Au People of the West Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea. They are all handmade miniature replicas of real items that the native people used for daily life. This miniature is brand new and in it's original packaging. It shows a Rope Skirt that Au women would likely wear. The packaging describes how it was made and of what materials, namely a string woven from the bark of the Tulip tree. I've added a photo of another miniature that is somewhat similar to it (despite the addition of color) in order to show the rough size and a clearer view than can be had through the plastic packaging. It is time to clear out the souvenirs that have just been stored for years. I have many other items from Papua New Guinea and other places in my store, along with many hand-made items, and treasures from family members' collections that we need to re-home.
