Description: Appearing in the magazine Model Airplane News of November 1947 this was the first published article featuring the new cast aluminum model race car, the Cox Thimble Drome Special. By attaching a cord or "tether" line it was designed for manually swinging cars in a circle. Then in early 1948, the inventorLeroy M. Cox introduced a Thimble Drome car powered by an engine with vertical cooling fins designed by Cameron Brothers. It was an immediate success and soon became the best seller in the mite tethercar category. This is a 9 x 12.5" replication of the article. Also included is a 1958 biographical sketch of Mr. Cox andan advertisement for the inaugural "Special" car. (Our computer-generated restoration process for printed paper eliminates defects and imperfections common with age-distressed and faded paper surfaces. The finished result is virtually identical to the original.) *Check our site for more tether car related items.
