Description: Royal Doulton Dinner Plate Imperial Palace Chen Chi Artwork Gold Trim 1977 HTF A beautiful ROYAL DOULTON 10 1/2" COLLECTOR PLATE, IMPERIAL PALACE, #3318 of 15000 Reproduction of Artwork by CHEN CHI w/GOLD Trim, Circa 1977 from Burslem, Staffordshire, England DESCRIPTION: This superb quality china has colors that are bright and vivid on a white background. This has gold trim on the rim. The colors used are yellow, green, pink & grey on white. This is the second of the COLLECTORS INTERNATIONAL series by Royal Doulton. The design is very striking. We have 3 more of this collection in other listings. See our eBay store. CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks or wear to the gold. This appears to have never been used, just displayed in a protected environment. DIMENSIONS: The plate has a diameter of 10 1/2" with a height of 7/8". HISTORY/MARKS: Henry & James Doulton purchased an interest in Pinder, Bourne & Co. in 1877. Pinder left the business in 1882 and it was reconstituted under the name Doulton & Co., Burslem. The Royal Warrant and the right to use “Royal” in the name of its products were granted in 1901. The business continued under Henry Lewis Doulton from 1897-1919 and then under his grandson, Lewis Eric Hooper, who remained chairman until 1955. The mark on this is Geoffrey Godden's mark #1334 (Encyclopaedia of British Pottery and Porcelain Marks) used from 1930. This pattern was produced in the 1977 time period.
