Royal Staffordshire Pottery Wilkinson Flow Blue Cups & Saucers - Set of 2

Description: These flow blue porcelain flat cups and saucers (2 sets = 4 pieces) made by A.J. Wilkinson of Royal Staffordshire Pottery in Burslem, England, may be old but they have not lost their classic beauty. Part of the beloved Iris pattern, this set featuring deep cobalt and bright gold melds many Art Nouveau influences, including long, swirling leaves, flowers and a dotted pattern on the cups' handles. Each cup stands 2.5 inches high and is 3.75 inches in diameter. Each saucer with raised rim measures about 1 inch high, with a 6-inch diameter. The pair's condition is far from perfect but good for its age. There is some crazing on the underside of one cup (see 3rd to last photo) and a few lines of crazing in one spot on its inside. There is some rubbing of the gold, mostly on the cups' outer rims. The undersides of the cups and saucers have signs of wear and some discoloration of the porcelain. Finally, one saucer has a small ding on its rim (see 2nd to last photo), and the bottom of one cup has a chip (see last photo). As you can see from the pictures, these imperfections do not detract from this pair's overall antique charm. The manufacturer's mark stamped on the side of each saucer says "Iris" Royal Staffordshire Pottery - Burslem, England - F C, which was used from 1907 on without the Wilkinson name, dating this set's creation to sometime soon after that period. The cups are unmarked but are obviously part of this well-known pattern. *Please note: I have a number of additional Iris items listed on eBay (a sugar bowl with lid, a creamer, a set of dessert bowls and a platter) if you are a fan of this line.
