Many options to choose from. Generally P85s need P85 mags and will not work with P89 or later mags. Aftermarket mags tend to have a larger slot cut for the mag release and work better for both P85 and P89 or later. The rectangle magazine release slot on the magazine can be file fitted to work with either P85 or P89 and later magazines. Altered magazines cannot be returned. Original P85 Magazines are not marked with Ruger markings. They can be differentiated by a spine weld and split floor plate. Fit and finish are very good. Aftermarket variants without marking are much rougher and are easily distinguished to the trained eye. Pachmayr magazines were very likely made by Mec-Gar. These have a rubber pad at the bottom and appear very nice. Value priced magazines with mild rust are still fully functional. The rust can be removed with a wire brush and WD40 or other solvent.
