Description: Removed from a Victorian scrap album, some residue on the reverse. Friend and associate of Dickens, and Irish songwriter, composer and novelist, and a portrait painter. A detailed three sided letter detailing his leaving for a trip to Brighton with Mrs Lover, prescribed by a medical friend for her influenza. Mrs William Johnson was a society lady who moved in the highest circles of political personalities with her husband. She was friendly with literary figures including Julie Pardoe and Samuel Lover, and appears to have been a composer or poet herself judging by many of her letters. She is possibly Frances Herbert, daughter of Captain Josiah Nisbet, R.N., eldest grandchild of Viscountess Nelson, who married Captain William Johnson (Johnston) Neale. I post all paper items protected and in proper card backed envelopes.
