Description: For your consideration is this rare (and real cool!) Strickland's Wine Of Life bottle from Chicago, Illinois. It stands 10 1/2" tall with an OD of 2 1/2". I found some old adds from 1867 and 1894-95. This is the amber 2-piece BIMAL version so it's likely from the 1880's. Strong strikes on the embossed lettering on both shoulders. (The white can be removed easily if you'd like). Many bubbles. There's a minor lip chip as shown but considering the rarity of this bottle, it's something to overlook as you may not see another for sale for years or decades. There's a small amount of internal residue on the base's interior and some minor haze. Please use the pictures as the best description though and ask any questions you may have prior to bidding. Peachridge did an article on "Stricklands Life Bitters" in May of 2016. The article mentions that the author is unaware of any of these bottles, and that it is an unlisted bitters bottle. I surmise that perhaps this Wine Of Life is indeed the Life Bitters mentioned? Note the one advertisement (from 1867) which mentions to take a wine-glass full of the Life Bitters. That's interesting to say the least. FYI: I've heard that there are two sizes of this bottle, mainly in aqua. I've seen a 3-piece mold version in amber, and I own a 4-piece mold, applied lip in honey amber. Thanks for stopping in, best of luck if you opt to bid, and thanks for supporting a small fish in a big pond.Calculated shipping with no handling surcharges.
