Description: Scarce Spanish Chassepot Bayonet Vascongadas (or Basque Made); Top of blade is rounded with no markings. M1866's are flat with Arsenal markings. This measures 27.12" overall with a blade length of 22.25", with inside diameter of socket of .715". These were made by Toledo and the Basque also made these, but with no markings on ricasso, guard is stamped, "127" and on the opposite side marked, "5822". Right side of pommel on the right is stamped, "U", with an, "X" on the top of the guard. The socket also has a different screw than the M1866. Press-stud mechanism intact and works. A rare and hard to find piece. No scabbard.
