Description: Scarce Staffordshire Dark Blue and White Transfer "QUADRUPEDS" LION Dinner Plate, #2, John Hall, Staffordshire, England, c. 1810 - 1830. This is a fine dinner plate with a dark blue transfer of a lion chasing their prey in the center. This plate is a part of a series of staffordshire produced by John Hall in the first part of the 19th century that featured four legged animals. Each plate size and different serving piece featured a different four legged animal in the center. Then there are different four legged animals in cartouches around the rim. The Quadruped series is one of the most popular Staffordshire series and it is usually valued similar to American historical patterns! This Staffordshire plate is offered here with the opening bid the reserve and a Buy It Now. SIZE: This plate measures 5/8" H. x 10 1/8" Dia.. CONDITION: The condition is good with a hairline off the rim at 3 o'clock and two tiny shallow flakes on the inner rim of the plate bowl at 10 o'clock. The hairline is where the white arrow is pointing on front as it can't really be seen from the front.
