Description: Welcome to my listing for a scarce work that's of interest to any collector of historical works on the American stock market and business world: Scientific Stock Speculation by Charles H. Dow (founder of the Dow Jones Average and the Wall Street Journal.) Published in 1920 (after his death) by The Magazine of Wall Street, it collects his investment theories, based on years of observing and analyzing patterns of movement in stock prices. While modern reprints and downloads of this work are readily available, this original century-old publication is seldom seen, and would make an excellent gift, or a fine addition to any business collector's library. It measures 5" by 4.5" and is 101 pages long. The book is in excellent condition, clean and solid and quite readable. The pages are only lightly yellowed with age, and are firmly attached and unmarked, except for a name and date (3/4/21) pencilled on the front flyleaf (see Photo 4.) The binding is tight and square; the blue cloth binding is bright and unfaded, with only a bit of scuffing at the corner tips. The gilt lettering on the spine and front cover is slightly worn-away but still legible. Not an ex-library copy.
