Seabury Book of Common Prayer BCP 1979 Compact Pocket Episcopal Leather

Description: Seabury Book of Common Prayer BCP 1979 Compact Pocket Episcopal Leather VB-677 This is a lovely and unique red personal/compact-sized Book of Common Prayer of the Episcopal Church USA. It is the 1979 edition, but pre-RCL so it uses the older Sunday Lectionary. If you are looking for quality editions with wonderful paper and typeface, pre-RCL is the only way to go since Oxford’s manufacturing went downhill starting in the late 1990s and Seabury was long since out of business. Please check the certification year is that is important to you. What stands out with this is the paper quality, much thicker than most editions Seabury published. These older Seabury’s had really nice, thick paper. Great rebind candidates as well. These make great pairings with early Oxford compact NRSVs or the in-print Harper compacts having almost the same footprint. The dark burgundy has a nice grain on it and is plenty flexible. No indication on what kind of leather, but my guess is genuine. Some abrasions to the hinge and front cover. There is a sticker on the inside front cover. The page edge gilding has some consistent scratches. It has 4 ribbons. I found no writing, but the presentation page was removed.
