Description: Sega Game Gear VA1 Model 2110 Gray, Fully Recapped, New Lens, Nice Screen! This is a VA1 Sega Game Gear console, in Gray. I have recapped fully and cleaned the system. The shell is in excellent condition with only minor wear. Here is a summary of my work (performed on 24Nov24) to make this console last as long as possible below! I purchased this Game Gear as "recapped gone wrong", i.e. still nonworking after recap. The recapped solder joints were originally terrible, and a couple traces were broken. I removed every new cap from the board, cleaned the board substantially more than previous owner, and repaired the broken traces. After cleaning the pads and placing the new capacitors back on the board with plenty of flux and clean solder work, the console came back to life. Please see photos for photos of the motherboard to get an idea of what the final solder work looks like!No pads were torn from any work, all were actually very strong, but as stated, a few traces/vias were bad.The audio board was functional with the recap done by previous owner, but the solder joints were also terrible and the board was not cleaned well from previous cap leakage. I removed all 5 of the newly installed audio board caps and cleaned the pads very carefully and soldered them back on the board very cleanly, with good solder joints. Audio board was still functional after re-doing the previous owner's recap work.Power board was recapped by previous owner correctly and did not need any rework.Legs on Diode D4 on the board did not look good. Out of caution, I replaced D4 with a new one and cleaned the pads below. Before and during recap work, I cleaned the boards thoroughly to remove leakage and flux. Reflowed the audio wheel to ensure good contact so that using the audio wheel does not result in any static. Cleaned the outside of the shell to remove most grime. Outside shell is in excellent condition.Screen lens replaced with a fresh one to replace the last one that had a huge gouge in it. The console works fully, with the buttons and cartridge slot working great. Headphone jack works and all wheels work well. Screen looks really good (as good as an OEM Game Gear screen could look) with no apparent dead pixels. Cosmetically, the console looks great with very few marks or scratches from years of play. New screen lens installed to replace old lens that had a gouge in it. I have tested with Sonic 1 and a couple other games, and the system played without issue. Audio is crisp and loud. The console has been tested for about thirty minutes run time total post-recap work. Please look at photos to see physical condition. Condition is overall classified as "GREAT" overall in my opinion! You will receive the recapped console in the photos. NO GAMES, BATTERIES, OR POWER CORDS ARE INCLUDED! Please let me know if you have any questions! What you see is what you get. Will be shipped within a business day of purchase! Have a great day!
