Description: As a priest to start a new congregation in Virginia, to reach a whole new generation of seekers, I found this series of booklets to be the foundation of all that I did. Or maybe it was the springboard that pushed me forward. Or another metaphor who knows? All I can say is the ideas I found in these pamphlets were the basis used for planting a growing church. The pamphlets include 1. Sizing up a congregation for new member ministry 2. The lifecycle in congregations: a process of natural creation and an opportunity for new creation 3. Parallel development: a pathway for exploring change and a new future in congregational life 4. Small groups effective: notes on fellowship, homes, cell groups, and house churches in the Episcopal tradition 5. All doors open: congregational strategies for comprehensive evangelism and outreach 6. Basics for starting developing a mission congregation Those are Goldmine of strategies for modern congregations, especially in the Episcopal tradition. In another listing, I’ve included a pamphlet from the church of England, which took the same ideas and flush them out even further couple of decades. After this author had finished I put these pamphlets right up there with church planning manuals like Building a contagious church by mark Middleburg or the Contagious Congregation by George Hunter. I am a retired, priest, and professor who is looking for a good home for many of the books and pamphlets that I have collected over the years. These are so good somebody should adopt them and get more use out of them. Even if you’re not planning on planting we’re starting a new church, many of the ideas help a congregation develop new forms of parish life. I’m especially keen on the idea of parallel redevelopment that is presented here and in those other works.
