Description: Two books on the famous Duomo, or Cathedral in Florence, Italy. First, by well-known author, Ross King, his book on the Dome that bears the subtitle “how a Renaissance genius reinvented architecture.” It is a fascinating and magnificently written tale, historical, of the construction of the cathedral dome; of how Brunelleschi studied and figured out the secrets of the construction of the dome over the Pantheon in Rome, and used them in his construction. King’s volume, a paperback (pages intact and unmarked, but show some age), is basically a throw in to the main attraction of the set, which is Rockwell’s “Filippo’s Dome,” a children’s book with beautiful illustrations (see photo). This book is ex libris and has markings indicating its withdrawal from a public library. It also contains a few under linings and marginal notes that indicate it had belonged to a schoolteacher, who used it to teach children on this topic. The Rockwell volume is hardcover, and would be considered in very good condition were it not for the ex libris markings (The pencil notes in the margins by the teacher could be easily erased).
