showy & unique handled wood scraper plane w/ ram's horn nuts & brass sole

Description: You are bidding on one showy and unique handled scraper or scraper plane as pictured.It is unmarked, including the blade.The handle and upper part of the body is all one piece of wood, the throat plate is steel or cast iron, and the sole is brass. It features the two ram's horn nuts to secure everything, and the third nut to adjust the shape of the blade. The scraper appears to be quite old, while the blade is much more recently made.Overall length of the body is about 13". The blade measures about 2-11/16" by 4-3/4" by about .037" thick. The blade needs to be almost exactly that width (or a 16th wider) and thickness to fit properly. The blade sits at an angle of about 70 degrees relative to the sole. It weighs 1 pound 7.9 ounces on my postal scale. Condition is good to very good. The undersides of both handles have a bunch of little dings (???) visible in the 5th picture. The handle has a variety of scratches and dings, the 3 nuts have some rust, and the brass sole has some tarnish and some dings around the edge to smooth out. The blade has some scratches and some patina (color) and just a hint of pitting. It has been very slightly burnished. Everything turns and operates properly.
