Description: Excellent condition vintage Bolo Tie, handmade by Jane Yikaazba Popovich of the Navajo Nation in Phoenix, AZ. Jane was born Dec. 15, 1926, in Hogback, New Mexico, to Edith Lapahie and H. B. Lewis. She passed away April 18, 2021, in Phoenix. Jane lived in Arizona since the late 1950s and is best known as a Dine’ silversmith and CEO of Navajo Silvercraft based in Phoenix. She participated in numerous arts and craft shows across the country and around the world. Her jewelry was purchased and collected from the Indian Market in Santa Fe, to shops in Scottsdale, Arizona. This sterling silver bolo tie was handcrafted by Jane with intricate scrollwork and has two genuine turquoise stones and one Ox Blood-type coral stone. The cord is made of a synthetic material (not real leather). The Bolo measures 2” x 2” from the widest width. The cord length is approximately 18” from middle to end (or 36” total) including the tips. The metal is not marked as sterling, but Jane only worked with sterling silver for her pieces. Her signature stamp was also applied by hand and has imperfections as such. Please review the photos for a complete description of the item.
