Description: Measuring about 6" x 10", and running from page 241 to 336, plus advertising, this paperback book is the June and July, 1880, combined issue of "Southern Historical Society Papers", also billed as Volume 8, Nos. 6 and 7. It is published in Richmond by Rev. J. William Jones. The contents - mostly related to Confederate activities during the Civil War - include: - History of Lane's North Carolina Brigade (by Brigadier General James H. Lane)- Operations of General J. E. B. Stuart before Chancellorsville- McClellan and Lee at Sharpsburg (Antietam)- Operations about Lookout Mountain- The Battle of Williamsburg and the Charge of the 24th Virginia of Early's Brigade- Strength of Ewell's Division in the Campaign of 1862- Gettysburg - various reports- Defense of Vicksburg in 1862, The Battle of Baton Rouge It is in somewhat distressed condition, with the cover wraps separated, the binding falling apart, and most of the pages chipped, creased and torn around the edges. It also has an ownership inscription on the first page, and at least one article with handwritten margin notes and emphasis marks..
