Description: State of Iowa, Henry County Land Deed w/ Seal and Stamps, Aug. 16, 1865. This deed shows that the married couple of J. B. Smith and Margaret S. Smith have signed for a piece of land in Henry County. The land parcel is intricately detailed (although somewhat hard to read the writing). This signing was witnessed by the Notary Public Mr. Saunders which includes his signature and the Henry County Rotarial Seal of Iowa. There are two .25 cent American stamps on the document which have been initialed and dated by J.B. Smith. On the back, there are a few notes about the deed. The Recorder H.J. Howard of Henry County, Iowa has signed and dated the deed as well. The document is in fair shape given its age. Slightly yellowed with a few tears at edges of deed where it was folded. There is a staple in the left hand upper side of the deed. It is appoximately 9 inches wide and 14 inches tall (I rounded those numbers off). Comes in hard plastic protective cover.
