Description: I have had a flurry of people contacting me asking what string I use to to hang the chime tubes in the tube clocks.So I am selling full sets of string so you can replace them all....Your clock may have some wire, some cat gut and all types of stuff people have used to replace broken ones over the millenia.This string is 100% cotton. 35lb test. All natural material.... as would have been originally. Now you can have the strings all the same material, and it will sound better.This string works the best, as I have tried all different types of string to hang these tubes.I use this string for all tube clocks I restore.Follow the photographic instructions above to install them.The tubes should not hang any lower that 3/8 inch from the rack they hang from. If lower than that, they "swing" too much after being struck.. and then subsequent strikes will not sound good. You will recieve10 strings.... each 14 inches long, one extra in case you goof one up!
