Description: W.A. EURENIUS & P.L. QUIST. Nine photographs, Stockholm, undated (1860s). Albumen prints on cartes de visite, all but two captioned under the photograph, hand-colored with artist credit to C.A. Soderman, reverse side with elaborate studio logo and advertising. Costume and military illustration; subjects include artellerist, carolin, gustavian, kavallerist, two unlabeled, one labeled merely "Sverige" showing a woman with a rake, another just "Lappland" showing two women probably preparing food but it's unclear to me. Soderman's work here is exquisitely executed, with delicate details and neat highlights. This sort of documentation of native peoples and costume was popular in the 1860s, when Eurenius & Quist were prominent as Swedish court photographers. Condition of these prints Very good over all, occasional spotting and darkening.
