Description: What a pretty teapot from Royal Doulton of England. This teapot is made of Lambethware also called Lambeth stoneware which Royal Doulton developed to make durable, dishwasher safe products, that are considered oven-to-table. It is called Lambethware because in the late 1800’s the company made salt-glazed stoneware with patterns created by artists from the Lambeth school of Art, that was close by. These were made at Lambeth Works, which eventually closed down in 1956. The 20th century Lambethware was made from the early 1970’s to about 1990. They were decorated with patterns that brought images of the countryside to mind. The pattern on this teapot is called Piccadilly Fresh Flowers, which has a beautiful big pink cabbage rose on each side and pale green leaves on an off white or ivory background. This pale green edges the rim of the teapot and a bit on the lid. This pattern was made for a short time, between 1986 & 1990 according to replacements dot com, but the backstamp has 1983, so it could have been made then. The teapot weighs just shy of two pounds, stands about 7 inches tall, and is about 9 & 1/2 inches wide from handle to spout. It holds 5 cups easily, which I measured by pouring in water. The base is about 5 & 1/2 inches in diameter. It is in excellent vintage shape, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. It appears to be unused. Even though this is some kind of stoneware so it is super durable and excellent for every day use, when I shine a light on it, the light passes through like it does with porcelain. So it must have been fired at a high temperature for strength, like porcelain. And since the rose pattern is under the glaze, it won’t fade or be damaged in the dishwasher. So if you need an every day, pretty and durable teapot, by the renowned porcelain maker, Royal Doulton of England , here it is! And not many of them out there, that I could find, in part because they weren’t made for very, long, and this pattern was made for only 4 years or so. Please zoom in on the pictures, and see the 360 degree video for a closer look. I pack with lots of bubble wrap for safe shipping and ship out quickly, sometimes same day, always by next business day, and sometimes on Saturdays if I can get it packed and to the post office before they close at noon. Any questions, please ask and thanks for looking!
