Rio Medina is in the hill country about 26 miles west of San Antonio, the home of the great Impressionist landscape painter Julian Onderdonk who has inspired local artists for the past century. Jones is represented by the Art Legacy Gallery in San Antonio where paintings similar in both image and size have sold in the thousands of dollars. The painting is undated but most likely created around ten years ago when the previous owners purchased many works by Jones. It may also be one of the largest pastels ever painted by Jones.
