Description: WILL COMBINE SHIPPING COSTS FOR MULTIPLE ITEMS Nicomachean Ethics or Nicomachean Ethics ( Greek Ἠθικὰ Νικομάχεια, OVR transliterated Ethika Nikomacheia ; gene . Ἠθικῶν Νικομαχείων, Ethikōn Nikomacheiōn , Latin Ethica Nicomachea ) is the name given to the best known work of Aristotle on ethics , written in the century IV a. C. It is one of the earliest preserved treatises on ethics and morals in Western philosophy.. This writing plays an important role in the definition of Aristotelian ethics, it consists of ten books, originally scrolls, and its understanding is based on notes from his dissertations at the Lyceum . The title of the work is sometimes assumed to refer to his son Nicomachus . Together with the Eudemic Ethics (books IV-VI coincide in content with books V-VII of the Nicomachean Ethics ) and the Great morality , they form the set of Aristotle's treatises on ethics .The theme of the work is a Socratic question previously explored in Plato's works , about how men should live. I call it a way of life as eudaimonia , which was based on the theoretical contemplation of noble subjects such as science and philosophy . Aristotle held what is today called an ethic of virtuesThe most important virtues being those of the soul, mainly those that refer to the rational part of man. Ethics for Aristotle is also a practical rather than a theoretical question, based on habit and custom. In other words, it is not just a contemplation of good living, because it also aims to create good living. Therefore, it is connected with Aristotle's other practical treatise on Politics , which deals with how a legislator should act towards the good of an entire community. The work includes an analysis of the relationship of character and intelligence with happiness. Together with the Judeo-Christian biblical message , it constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of Western thought about morals and the good life on which Western ethics was later built.
