Description: You are buying 1 set of this album and prints. My pictures show the sealed sets and 1 open set. This album was created for the Alaska 1967 Centennial Exposition in Fairbanks. It is a 33 1/3 record of Ruben Gaines doing the narration, as you go through the pictures which each has a reference number of 1 through 15. The 15 prints are 12" x 12" and suitable for framing. They are reproductions of the original paintings by Alaskan painter, Magnus "Rusty" Heurlin. Paperwork and record are dated 1967. PLEASE NOTE: The set of prints on displayed were from a set that I opened to take pictures of. There is a visible round impression of the record on a couple of the prints from being pressed up against the record in the package. I have to assume that the set you will get will also show this impression. One of Alaska's earliest, most beloved, and longest-tenured resident painters, Rusty Heurlin was a keen observer of the lives of Native people and settlers in northern Alaska. Mr. Heurlin He was born in Christianstad, Sweden, of Swedish parents and trained at the Fenway School of Illustration in Boston. The artist arrived in Valdez, Alaska in 1916. He left to serve in World War I, but returned to Alaska in 1924 for good. He eventually made his home in Ester, just outside Fairbanks, where he lived until his death in 1986. The artist is best known for several cycles of large paintings chronicling Alaska's history. "The Great Stampede," "The Great Land," and "Our Heritage" series each illustrate major themes in the history of Alaska's Native and pioneer cultures. Other Heurlin paintings are more modest in scale, but are all the more effective for their quiet evocation of the lives of Eskimo hunters and pioneer Alaskans -- ways of life the artist knew well and fervently admired. Ruben Gaines was born in 1912. During World War II, he worked in Hollywood, California, as a radio broadcaster. He came to Alaska around 1946 to work in radio broadcasting in Fairbanks, and moved to Anchorage in 1950. He is best known for his daily five-minute radio program, Conversations Unlimited in which he presented readings of his stories about life in Alaska. He published several books of poetry, including On Distance and Recall, and A Chugach Album and On Youth. He served as Alaska State Poet Laureate from 1973 to 1978. Ruben Gaines died in Anchorage in 1994. FAST SHIPPING. My shipping is Priority shipping to anywhere in the USA.You should have this item in just a few days after it is mailed.
