Description: The British Female Poets, with Biographical And Critical Notices, by Geo. W. Bethune. Published by R. Worthington, NY. No dates, but owners' notation of Jan. 4, 1886 is located on the ffep. She gifted the book to her daughter on Nov 6, 1934. 490 pages. Tan cloth boards are heavily decorated in darker browns, black and gold. All edges are lovely, undamaged gilt. Corners are bumped, but only lightly rubbed. Spine ends have slightly more wear. Rear has just light soiling. Patterned endpapers have the owner's inscriptions in front; rear are clean. Hinges are intact and binding is tight. The first leaf of the Preface is torn most of the way up, right at the gutter. The. There are 6 b&w plates including the frontispiece. Pages are generally clean; a few have a minor brown spot in the margin. Pages are bordered with a red line. Poetry is included from over fifty female poets.
