Description: This is a beautiful find, one of Modern Library's best. First edition 1951 Modern Library copy of J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, red cloth hardcover, and the top page edge is dyed black. Binding is perfect, pages are free of any staining, sunning, brown spots, or foxing, and the cover only shows a tiny stain darkening a portion of the bottom edge. The dust jacket cover is where this listing really shines, as it appears at first unaged; what first stands out, aside from the beautiful and dark font and type that stands out great against thecreamy white background, are three very minor and faded coffee stains (see pictures, please) that are honestly a bit charming. In a similar vein at the bottom page side corner on the back of the jacket, a similarly faded coffee stain can be see. The edges of the flaps, where the jacket pivots around are clean, as are the inside parts of the jacket themselves, though there is a slight darkening to the edges. Price is not clipped. The spine of the jacket sleeve is also in great shape, with only a little bit of shelf wear along the bottom and the top of the spine.
