Description: This booklet would be in very good condition, but the staples do have some rust. Otherwise, pages are clean and white and the cover has only light wear. This is an interesting booklet put out by the Johnson Institute back in 1983. It is about the Disease Concept of Alcoholism. I will admit that sounded pretty good to me when I came into AA and found it that it wasn't my fault I did all that crap in the past, including all my drinking. However, this booklet contains on a few pages on the Advantages of the Disease Concept, and a slew of pages on the Objections to the Disease Concept. I'm currently reading Mel Scheib's book, "Hello Suckers!" which was written in 1982! (It is being republished at this time) He, as a substance abuse counselor and long time member of AA, gets really upset about that 'Disease Concept' that the AMA agreed on in 1955 (by a slim vote I've been told) for many reasons. And I believe he and Dr. Blume may have been way ahead of their times after reading their literature. Anyway, this appears to be a hard-to-find booklet for some reason, but an interesting read. Please email with any questions.
