Description: The Grass Roof By Younghill Kang Charles Scribner's Sons, NY, 1931. First edition, first printing. A very clean copy of this scarce title. Orange cloth with publisher's printed paper title labels mounted to the cover ( in the Chinese Characters used commonly at the time for more scholarly Korean writing) and spine (English), no dust jacket. A clean and tight copy, with an inscription on the front end page to Rev. Raymond B. Bragg. Raymond Bennett Bragg (19021979) was an American Unitarian minister who played a key role in the writing of the original Humanist Manifesto (1933) and eventually signing Humanist Manifesto II. Minor edgewear and a small stain on the spine; scratches and rubbing to the spine label. Considered the first Korean-American novel. Uncommon especially in this condition and with this provenance.
