Description: THE ILLUSTRATED ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GODZILLA (Out of Print) - The Holy Grail of Godzilla Books!!! This is it! The Holy Grail of Godzilla books! So rare that some Godzilla fans think that it's only a myth! However I can assure you that it's not, because I've had this bad boy in my possession ever since I bought it at a Godzilla convention in the 1990s! (I believe it was G-Con '96 in New York City.) Written by one of the most foremost authorities on the King of the Monsters, the extremely knowledgeable Ed Godziszewski, The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Godzilla was the first book of its kind: a thoroughly researched treasure trove of ACCURATE Godzilla information WRITTEN IN ENGLISH, the likes of which had not been seen before. And even though there have been several other English-language books on Godzilla since The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Godzilla was published in 1995, none offer the incredible amount of images (all in black and white) that abound throughout the book! The book has 258 pages and almost every page has multiple photos and sketches on it, a lot of which can ONLY be found in this book. Unfortunately, Ed Godziszewski didn't clear these photos with Toho, and he ended up receiving a cease and desist order from them. This led to the book being discontinued, which is why it is so incredibly hard to find nowadays! The book has eleven chapters: 1. Godzilla Filmography (which talks about all of the Godzilla movies up until Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla)2. The Creative Team Behind Godzilla3. Actors Gallery4. Special Effects Techniques5. Unseen Godzilla (which highlights unmade projects, unused footage, and differences between Japanese and American versions of Godzilla movies)6. Publicity Campaigns7. Merchandising8. Godzilla in Popular Culture9. Godzilla Data Bank10. Encyclopedia of Godzilla (a list of every monster, alien race, weapon, etc. from every Godzilla movie up until Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla)11. Appendix (which includes original stories, unfilmed screenplay scenes, a monster actors role call, and an essay written by a social psychologist/Godzilla fan) The book is in acceptable shape. The front cover, back cover, and spine have noticeable wear, and there are small tears on the upper right and lower left corners of the front cover. (See for yourself in the photos I posted.) However once you open the book it's a completely different story. Each of the 258 pages is in great condition for a book that is over 25 years old, and the only really noticeable blemish I found as I flipped through each page was a very small stain (looks like it could be a coffee stain) at the top of pages 59, 60, 61, and 62. (The photos that I posted give you an idea of what the pages generally look like throughout the book.) I have a lot of Godzilla books in my collection (in addition to this one I have The Official Godzilla Compendium, Japan's Favorite Mon-Star, Godzilla: King of the Movie Monsters, and many others), but this book will always be my favorite. I hope that you get to enjoy it as much as I have. Feel free to hit me up with any questions you may have.
