Outward Bound features fighters of the Eighth, which initially provided bomber protection and quickly became a potent offensive weapon providing air superiority to pave the way for heavy bombers. Coming Home depicts the Eighth returning from a bomber combat mission over Europe. The ultimate victory of Allied Forces in 1945 provided vindication for the Eighth’s policy of high-altitude daylight precision bombing.
