Typically, we humans can only "see" within a very narrow band of electromagnetic radiation: Light waves / photons that are emitted between the wavelengths of 400 nanometers (which we see as "deep violet") and 700 nanometers (which we see as "deep red"). All other color manifestations and variations interpreted by our human brains, via the optic nerves (such as blue, green, orange, yellow), fall somewhere in between these violet-red wavelength lines of emission. Thus, the "visible bandwidth" of radiation is what our eyes are confined to being capable of detecting - more or less - which is why we humans have named it as such.
