A Businessman Looks at Books and Literature: "A Businessman Looks at Books and Literature was prepared as an address for delivery at the State University of Iowa in Iowa City. It was presented the evening of January 18, 1945. Coleman later reprinted this as a separate essay". The Pleasures of Collecting Bookplates: "The Pleasures of Collecting Bookplates appeared as a chapter in Malcom G. Wyer's Bookplates in Iowa, published in 1914". The Humanities in a World of Uncertainties: "The Humanities in a World of Uncertainties was written as the sixty-sixth annual commencement address for Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa, June 3, 1945. The Humanities has been the most widely reprinted of Foster's talks. Coleman reprinted it as a separate brochure. Parsons College also issued it in booklet form and, still later, Westminster College of Salt Lake City, Utah, issued it in an edition of 300 copies".
