Description: Theodore Ricksecker has been attributed to have been the person to have established the first perfume company in the United States, and located in New York City. He produced his first perfume in the 1860's and he remained in business for several decades. Mr Richsecker was very inventive, producing numerous famed fragrances. He traveled extensively in Europe, particularly France to keep abreast of the latest information in his field. He also used a dazzling array of designs and materials for the containers of his product. I suspect many of these were imported for domestic use. This particular bottle is a rare porcelain bottle, 3-1/8" tall overall and with a brownish shaded applied butterfly handle and blue coloration drizzled on the bottle itself. It has what I think is a pewter stopper with a cork surround on the inserted part of the stopper. It may have had a tiny stopper at the top opening, but perhaps not. Most importantly, it is marked at the top of the pewter " *RICKSECKER* N.Y.* PERFUMER." Mint condition. Much additional information and illustrations can be found on Recksecker's history at a wonderful website "CLEOPATRA'S BOUDOIR" Prior to bidding, please read below the information on payment, return policy and on international shipping. Refunds on approved returns are limited to the sale price of the item. All shipping costs, insurance, import fees, duties or related costs are the responsibility of the buyer. Thanks.
