Canvas Upper Look & Feel Note- Since the boots are going for a raw natural look, the minimally refined canvas uppers definitely reflect this. Besides the dying of the canvas, the uppers natural textures and the durable textured feel that weaved canvas is known for is basically left untouched. This is why some cross stitching thread areas are higher or lower in some areas. Also, natural faint tiny grayish toned thread spots pepper the shoes here and there. Oxidation Rubber Outsoles Note- The rubber outsole on these shoes has typical surface oxidation on it. This oxidation is inevitable because of the type of soft flexible rubber used in the outsole. Since the rubber outsole is somewhat transparent, some oxidation areas are darker in certain areas. The good news is the oxidation is only cosmetic an not a structural issue. Examples of oxidation are surface haziness and some areas of the outsoles are darker than other areas. Surface oxidation is common for rubber products. Surface haze or dulling is something you see all the time on rubber balls, rubber bands or anything else you can think of that's made of soft flexible rubber.
